شعبان

Shaʿban 1449 AH

The month before Ramadan. Its fifteenth night, the night of mid-Shaʿban, is kept awake in prayer by many.

Begins on Wednesday 29 December 2027 and runs 30 days, to Thursday 27 January 2028.

Projected from the Umm al-Qura calendar, as ActivePray reckons it. A Hijri month truly begins when the new crescent is seen, so it can open a day either side of this. Like every day of the Hijri year, each day begins at sunset the evening before.

The White Days

Three days of recommended fasting each lunar month, the Ayyām al-Bīḍ, when the moon is full. In Shaʿban 1449: Monday 10 January 2028, Tuesday 11 January 2028 and Wednesday 12 January 2028.

In ActivePray, the Hijri date stands at the top of every day, with each prayer at its hour and the holy days and fasts of the year, in Sunni and in Twelver Shia practice.
