How do I change my branch?

Your branch is chosen when you create your account, and it belongs to that account. There is no setting in the app to change it, and signing out does not change it either: your branch is kept in your iCloud and comes back when you sign in again with the same Apple ID.

To change your branch, contact support at kastlefive@icloud.com. Tell us your username and the branch you want to move to.

How are prayer times worked out?

On your iPhone, from your location and the position of the sun, using your branch's own way of reckoning. The times need no connection once your location is set.

Some branches have choices of their own. Open Profile, tap the gear, and under Your branch tap Branch settings. For Sunni Islam, for example, that is where the Asr method (Standard or Hanafi) and the Fajr and Isha convention are set; for Shia, whether you pray in Three sittings or Five times. Jewish branches have calendar and Torah cycle choices there, and Christian branches the hours of prayer.

Prayer times are calculated estimates. Customs and communities vary, so follow your own community where it differs.

Can I choose a city instead of sharing my location?

Yes. Open Profile, tap the gear, and under Location tap Choose city. A city you choose is used instead of your iPhone's location until you tap Use my location.

Your location is used on your iPhone to work out your times. It is never sent to us.

Why doesn't the app give times where I am?

Beyond 65.73° north or south, for part of the year the sun never properly sets, so there is no sunset or twilight to reckon prayer times from. The app does not calculate times there.

If your location is that far north or south, Location in Settings says Times can't be calculated in your place, and the app keeps the times of the place it was using before. To follow a particular city's times, tap Choose city. Cities that far north or south can't be chosen.

How do I change my reminders?

Open Profile, tap the gear, and under Notifications tap Reminders. Each kind of reminder for your branch has its own switch there, along with the daily reading reminder and the Live countdown on the Lock Screen.

With Active+ you can also set a Lead time, so that reminders arrive 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes before a prayer rather than at the time itself.

My reminders don't arrive. What can I do?

First, check that notifications are allowed: in the iOS Settings app, go to Notifications, then ActivePray, and turn on Allow Notifications. Check too that a Focus mode is not holding them back.

Then open ActivePray. Reminders are scheduled a few days ahead each time the app is opened, and iOS limits how many an app can have waiting, so if the app has not been opened for a while they can run out. Opening it schedules them again.

Will my progress move to a new iPhone?

Yes, if both iPhones are signed in to iCloud with the same Apple ID. Your streak, badges, profile, saved verses, saved places, pilgrimage progress, and your branch and its settings sync through your own iCloud. Sign in to ActivePray on the new iPhone with the same Apple ID and they come back.

Your profile photo stays on the iPhone it was added on, and does not sync.

To see whether sync is on, open Profile, tap the gear, and under Your data tap iCloud Sync. Sync uses your own iCloud account, which we cannot read.

What happens when I sign out?

Signing out clears the app on this iPhone. Your streak, badges, profile, username, saved places and pilgrimage progress stay in your iCloud, and come back when you sign in again with the same Apple ID. Your profile photo is only on this iPhone, so it won't.

If iCloud is not set up on your iPhone, your progress is not in iCloud, so it can't come back. Your username stays yours.

If someone else signs in on the same iPhone with a different Apple ID, their progress stays on the iPhone and your iCloud copy is left alone.

How do I delete my account?

Open Profile, tap the gear, and scroll to the foot of Settings. Tap Delete Account, then confirm; the button unlocks after a few seconds.

Deleting your account erases your streaks, badges, profile, saved verses, saved places and pilgrimage progress from your iPhone and from your iCloud, and frees your username for someone else. It can't be undone.

Deleting your account does not cancel Active+. Subscriptions are handled by Apple, so cancel it separately (see below).

How do I restore or cancel Active+?

To restore Active+ on a new or reset iPhone, open Profile, tap the gear, tap the Active+ card, and tap Restore on the Active+ screen. Use the same Apple Account you subscribed with.

To cancel, tap Manage subscription on the Active+ card in Settings, or go to the iOS Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Active+ stays on until the end of the period you have paid for.

How do I change the app icon?

Open Profile, tap the gear, and under Appearance tap App icon. Active is the standard icon. The others, Barbie, Water, Arctic, Wolf and Solar, come with Active+.

How do I report a bug?

Open Profile, tap the gear, and under About tap Report a bug. Your app and iOS version are attached so the problem can be reproduced. Or email kastlefive@icloud.com.

Is there an iPad or Android version?

Not yet. ActivePray is for iPhone, and needs iOS 26 or later.
