In one sentence
ActivePray is an iPhone app for daily prayer across Judaism, Christianity and Islam. It keeps the prayer times, the calendar and the day’s scripture for eight branches, each on its own terms, worked out on the phone and private by design.
In a few paragraphs
ActivePray serves three faiths and eight branches: Masorti, Reform and Karaite Judaism; Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant Christianity; and Sunni and Twelver Shia Islam. Each branch keeps its own calendar, its own hours and its own prayers, and where two branches differ, each is followed on its own terms rather than averaged into one.
Every time in the app is calculated on the iPhone, from where you are and where the sun is, so it works without a signal. There is no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
Five tabs hold the day: Today, with the next prayer and what today is in your own calendar; Prayer, with the services, readings and psalms appointed for the day in the original script beside the English; Calendar, with the branch’s year; Active, with a daily ring, streaks and mercy days; and Profile.
The core is free and stays free. Active+, at €2.99 a month, adds a private prayer journal, end-to-end encrypted in your iCloud, and ten more things for those who want to keep the app going.
ActivePray is made by one person, Benjamin Weberink, under the name Kastle Five, in Rotterdam.
